Christchurch
Christchurch is the biggest city of South Island. It was also the entry and exit point of our trip, since its international airport has direct flights to and from Australia.
We arrived at the motel at around 4:30pm and did nothing really significant the rest of the day (dinner, walking around the city centre). The sun set at around 9pm during our entire trip.
We continued to walk around the city on the next day. Having collected the rental car that afternoon, we departed for West Coast early the next morning.

Some of the houses in Christchurch were quite interesting. This was a hairdresser's place (left).
